Gently and not permitted to walk

30-45s
What is defined and mild hypothermia and what is the treatment?

- give hot sweet drink
What is moderate hypothermia defined as?
30-33.9°C
What is severe hypothermia defined as?
<30°C
If there is cardiac arrest following moderate hypothermia, what is the red box?
No active re-warming above 32°C
Is there is cardiac arrest following severe hypothermia, what is the red box?
No active re-warming beyond 32°C
Limit defibrillation to 3 shocks
How is a hypothermic patient transported?
Transport in head down position
Helicopter: head forward
Boat: head aft
BGL is checked in which patient hypo/hyperthermic?
Hyperthermic
What is mild hyperthermia also called?
Heat stress
What is moderate hyperthermia also called?
Heat exhaustion
What is severe hyperthermia called and what is the temperature?
Heat stroke >40°C
How would the skin present of a patient with hyperthermia?
Hot dry skin
What part of the brain is in charge of temperature regulation?
Hypothalamus
What are the stages of hypothermia?
1) conscious and shivering
2) decreased level of consciousness + not shivering
3) unconscious
4) not breathing
5) death due to irreversible hypothermia
