Indications
emergency treatment of acute oral poisoning or drug overdose
Contra-indications
value as de-toxicant for strong acids/alkalis is limited
poor in binding to cyanide/iron salts/methanol/ethanol/ethylene glycol
paediatric dose
NOT INDICATED
Adult dose
50g PO
Reconstitute with water (taken immediately)
repeat as necessary
Side effects
Bezoar/constipation/diarrhoea/GI disorders/Black stool
Caution: aspiration may lead to airway obstruction
