Consistent with the mission of the CHP, the SSP was established and developed to provide for the administration of LE services to state agencies: The Department will accomplish this by:
- Security
- Responding
- Providing State Capitol Security, dignitary protection, and constitutional officers.
- Responding to calls for LE services to ensure the safety of state government officials, employees, state property, and occupants of state owned or state leased property.
Departmental training - Protective Services Division (PSD) will provide training on an as needed basis relating to all of the following:

Section 14615(B) of the California Government Code states that the CHP has JURISDICTION over those matters related to the security of state officers, property, and occupants of state property.
