heart Flashcards
location of the heart
- Middle mediastinum
- Posterior to the body of the
sternum and the 2nd to the
6
th costal cartilages - anterior to T5-T8
pericardium is amde of
Fibrous: tough, dense irregular
connective tissue
* Attachments:
* Below: central tendon of
the diaphragm.
* Front: sternum by the
sternopericardial
ligaments
* Serous: thinner, more delicate
apex of the heart
lt at teh level of the fifth intercostal space
base of the heart
la and four pulmonary veins
anteriro surface of the heart
ra and rt
right pulmonary surface
ra
left pulmonary syurface
lt and a portion of la
inferior surface of the heart
lt rt
right border of the heart
ra and rt
superiro border of the heart
foot of great vessels
inferior border of the heart
right ventricle to teh paical part of theleft ventricle
left border of the heart
the base to the apex
what are wrinkled puches outisde tehatria that give extra space
auricles
sulci description
grooves that mark external boundaries on the heart and contain blood vessels and some amoubt of fat
sulci on the heart
coronary sulcus deep contaisn coronary blood vessels and externall marks the sepertaion between the superior atria and the inferiro ventricles
anterior and posterior interventricular sulci
ra description
2 -3 mm in thickness
sulcus and crista terminalis
anterior wall is rough because of the pectinate muscles
posterior wall is smooth
interatrial septum contains oval depression called fossa ovalis rememnant of foramen ovale
right atrium recieves deoxygenate dblood from the
superiro and inferiro vena cava and the coronary sinus
the valve between the ra and rt
tricsupid valve made up of dense connective tissue
anteriro septal and inferior cusps
right ventricle description
4-5 mm in thickness
forms mostof the anterior surface of the heart
trabulcae carnae and papillary cone shaped muscles that connnect to the chordae tendonae
moderate band runs from the septal to the anterior wall
left atrium description
recieves oxygentaed blood from four pulmonary veins
smooth anetriro and posteriro walls becuase no pectinate muscles are present
mitral bicuspid left atrioventricular fvalve between the la and lt
crista termnalis is located
outside
crista and sulcus terminalis job
seperate teh anteriro from the posterior wall -of the heart
left ventrciel description
10-15 mm inthickness for,s teh apex of the heart
aortic valve ( 2 anterior 1 posteriro ) cusps passes blood from thelt to the ascending aorta
left coronary arteyr passes
forward between teh left auricle and the pulmonary trunk
branches oof the left coronary artery
- The anterior
interventricular
branch or left anterior
descending (LAD)
artery is in the anterior
interventricular sulcus
and supplies
oxygenated blood to
the walls of both
ventricles.
⚫ The circumflex branch lies in the coronary sulcus
and distributes oxygenated blood to the walls of
the left ventricle and left atrium
right coronary artery description
The right coronary artery:
arises from ascending
aorta and runs forward
between the pulmonary
trunk and the right
auricle:
branches of right coronary artery
Atrial branches: to
the right atrium.
* Posterior
interventricular:
follows the posterior
interventricular
sulcus and supplies
the walls of the two
ventricles with
oxygenated blood
⚫ Marginal branch: transports oxygenated to
the right ventricle
the rigjt coronary arteyr runs
posteriorly
branch of circumflix
left marginal
branch of LAD
diagonal
coronary sinus
in teh posteriro surface of the heart empties into the ra in the coronary sulcus
great cardiac vein
in the anteriro interventricuklar sulcus draisn from the l and r ventricles along with thela
middle cardiac vein
emptoes from the l and r ventricles and runs in the posteior interventrciular sulcus
small cardiac vein
runs in the coronary sulcus and draisn dfrom the right a and v
anterior cardiac vein
draisn from the right v directly into the right atrium
