- reduces BP
- Dilation of systemic veins
What is the presentation of GTN?
aerosol spray
400 mcg
What is the administration of GTN?
SUBLINGUAL
- spray under tongue
What are the indications for GTN?
angina/ suspected myocardial infarction (MI)
SYSTOLIC BP OVER 110MMHG
What are the contra-indications for GTN?
SYSTOLIC BP LESS THAN 90
if patient has taken viagra in past 24hrs
Severe mitral stenosis
KSAR
What is the adult dose for GTN?
ANGINA/MI: 400mcg sublingual
(repeat 3-5 mins intervals, max 1200mcg)
PULMONARY OEDEMA: 800mcg/2 sprays (1xPRN)
PAEDIATRIC: not indicated
What is the paediatric dose for GTN?
not indicated
What are the side effects of GTN?
headache/ transient hypotension/ flushing/ dizziness
