Food chains!✨🥘⛓️ Flashcards
What is a food chain?
A food chain chain explains what eats what in the environment and is a linear sequence of organisms where energy, in the form of food, flows from one organism to the other.
when we eat food we eat gives us energy. How does energy get into food?
The energy in food begins in the Sun. The energy from the Sun reaches the earth in sunlight, and plants use energy from it to make their own food. Some of the energy from the sunlight goes into the food that the plant stores in its roots, stems, fruits, and leaves.
What is energy transfer?
When an animal eats a part of a plant, it eats the food the plant made and gets it energy. This is how animals get energy. This is called energy transfer.
How can you show how the energy passes from the sun to the producer and then the consumer(s)?
You can show how the energy passes from the sun to the producer and then the consumer(s) by drawing a food chain.
What do the arrows show in a food chain?
The arrows in a food chain show how energy is transferred from one organism to another in a food chain.
What is the 10 percent energy rule in a food chain or web?
The 10 percent law states that 90% of captured energy used by the current trophic level, and only 10% is available for the next level.
What is a food web?
A food web is multiple food chains overlaping and interconnecting to form an interdependent pattern of network in a particular ecosystem.
