Earth's structure! Flashcards
About how old is the earth?
Scientists have worked out that the earth is about 4500 million years old.
What is the outermost part of Earth made of?
The earth has a crust of solid rock.
What layer is under the crust?
Under the crust is the mantle, which is molten(hot liquid) rock that can flow.
What part of the earth is in the centre?
In the centre of the Earth is the core.(which includes the inner core and the outer core)
What metals are is the core made of?
The core is made of the metals iron and nickel.
What is the inner core made of?
The inner core is solid metal.
What is the outer core made of?
The outer core is made from molten metals.
What is the most common non-metal in the rock in the Earth’s crust?
Oxygen
What is the most common metal in the rock in the Earth’s crust?
Aluminium
What are all the metals and non-metals in the rock in the Earth’s crust?
Oxygen, Silicon, Aluminium, Iron, Calcium, Others
