What does part 61 cover?
The requirements for issuing pilot, flight instructor, and ground instructor certificates and ratings; the conditions under which those certificates and ratings are necessary; and the privileges and limitations of those certificates and ratings

What is cross-country time?
Time acquired during flight:
- Conducted by a person who holds a pilot certificate
- Conducted in an aircraft
- Includes a landing at a point other than the point of departure
- Involves the use of dead reckoning, pilotage, electronic navigation airds, radio aids, or other navigation systems to navigate to the landing point

What is cross-country time in terms of training?
Time acquired during flight:
- Conducted in an appropriate aircraft
- Includes a point of landing that was at least a straight-line distance of more than 50 NM from the original point of departure
- Involves the use of dead reckoning, pilotate, electric navigation aids, radio aids, or other navigation systems to navigate to the landing point

What documents are required to be in the pilots possession to act as a pilot flight crewmember?
- Pilot certificate

- Receive medical exam within 48 calendar months before acting as PIC
- Be under care and treatment of a state licenced physician if diagnosed with condition affecting safe flight
