The Coast Guard Voluntary Credentialing Program (VCP)
WHAT IS CA
Credentialing Assistance (CA) is the reimbursement of credentialing, certification, and licensing exam fees, maintenance fees, renewals, and membership dues (when applicable) by the Coast Guard for eligible service members.

What are the CA eligibility criteria?
Active duty enlisted service members with at least 6 months remaining on their service obligation.
Enlisted SELRES members who meet all participation standards including current readiness metrics as per the Reserve Policy Manual –i.e., in good standing for the previous twelve months and uploaded/accurate point statement in MyCG Ed.
Members must be marked “Ready” or “Not Ready” on current Enlisted Evaluation Report.
Member must have no misconduct, courts-martial punishment, judicial punishment, or non-judicial punishment in the last 12 months.
Member must be in compliance with COMDT weight standards.

What are the Current TA funding limits?
The Coast Guard will fund tuition cost, not to exceed $250.00 per semester hour, $166.67 per quarter hour, or $16.67 per clock hour. The annual cap for reimbursement of TA is $2250.00 per member

what is the Coast Guard Foundation Education Grant (CGFEG)
Provides funding for tuition, fees, and miscellaneous expenses incurred in completing off-duty voluntary education.
Reimbursement program requiring members to expend funds prior to applying for the grant.
Maximum payable reimbursement per person is $500.

whos I eligible for CGFEG
- Active Duty Enlisted Members serving in pay grades E-3 through E-6.
- Selective Reserve members on long-term active duty orders of 180 days or more.
- All applicants must be participating, or have participated, in a professional development, licensing, certification, college, undergraduate, or graduate level course within 12 months of the date of the application.
What is the Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Supplemental Education Grants?
Unlike a typical CGMA loan, you can request a grant for education needs.
While there is no set limit, requests should be for a ‘reasonable’ amount of assistance.
Intended for first time undergraduate degrees, vocational and technical training, or a GED not otherwise covered by Coast Guard Tuition Assistance or similar programs.
What is the Coast Guard Foundation’s Lisa Reed Spouse Education Grant?
Intended to assist spouses pursuing professional development courses, licensing courses, certificates, certifications and undergraduate/graduate degrees.
Supported by gift funds from the CG Foundation and will be disbursed based on availability of funds on a first come, first serve basis.
How does an OIC get authorization to give end of course tests?
Submit ESO reilief letter to ETQC.
