Which pump is used to drain & fill reservoir ? Where is the Hydraulic Oil pumped from to fill reservoir ?
-Hydraulic Fluid Filtering pump
-Pumped from 55 Gallon Hydraulic Barrels
What is reservoir level normally maintained at ?
Maintained between -2” to +2”
What must be done to the 55 gallon barrel before adding it to reservoir ?
Barrel must be heated by a strap-on wrap-around heaters
When do the Reservoir Heater & Fans energize when in auto ?
-Heaters & fans energize when temperature drops below 85F
When do the Heaters & fans denergize when switch is in auto ?
-Heater denergize when reservoir temperature reaches 85F
-Fans will run for 10 minutes to cool heaters once temperate reaches 85
What happens when you take the Heater & Fan switch to the start position ?
Fans will start, but the heaters won’t start regardless of temperate
What is the Reservoir Air Dryer used for ?
Removes moisture from air breathed by Hydraulic Fluid Reservoir during power operation
How does Reservoir Air Dryer work?
It uses a Alumina desiccant to remove moisture from reservoir
What does the Stealth Control Oil Reservoir Conditioner/Dryer do?
Injects .2 SCFM of air from instrument air into air dryer to blanket reservoir to exclude moisture & contaminants
What indications do you have on the pre filter indications for the air dryer supplying air to blanket reservoir ?
Green-less than 15psid
Orange-greater or equal to 15psid
Red-greater or equal to 25psid
What do the Hydraulic Fluid Pumps maintain Control Oil System pressure at ?
Maintains 1600psig for use of Stop Valves, Control Valves, & Combined Intermediate Valves
Where are the Main Hydraulic powered from ?
Powered 480Load center (NG)
How does the Main Hydraulic Pumps maintain constant system pressure ?
Pump varies its stroke to meet demand & constant pressure
What does the Auxiliary pump do ?
Takes suction from Control Oil Reservoir to cool & lubricate main Hydraulic Fluid Pump
Where is the Auxiliary Pump mounted to ?
Mounted into Main Pump housing & is driven by Main Hydraulic Pump Shaft
What’re the three indication for the suction strainer for Main Hydrulic pump & Aux pump ?
-Filter clean
-Needs cleaning
- Bypassing
What is the automatic bleed valve used for at the discharge of the Hydraulic pump ?
-Allows rapid full pressure starts after a strainer has been cleaned
-Bleed Valve discharges to reservoir
Where does the pressure relief valve discharge to at the discharge of the Main Hydraulic Pump ?
Routed back to reservoir
What happens when you get high DP on the Main Hydraulic Discharge Filters
What’re the Fluid Accumulators used for ?
-Reservoir supply line during turbine load transients that can cause rapid movement of steam admission valves
-Provide immediate 200% reserve fluid for transient requirements
How are the 4 Accumulators aligned ?
They’re aligned in parallel on common discharge header
What’re the Fluid Accumulators precharged with ?
Precharged with 1000psig of nitrogen
What do the Hydraulic Fluid Oil Coolers do ? How many are there ?
-Cools Control Oil returning from steam admission valves
-There is two 100% capacity Fluid Oil Coolers
How’re the Hydraulic Fluid Oil Cooleds aligned ?
They’re aligned in parallel with normally one in service
How is the Turbine Cooling Water inlet flow regulated ?
Temperature control valve is controlled by temperature controller to maintain temp. between 110-125
What’re the Fullers Earth Filters used for ?
-Maintains control oil pH by absorbing water
-Maintains chlorine content of control oil within specifications
What is the normal operation of the Fuller Earth Filters ?
Normally kept in continuous operation when turbine in service
What other pump can operated the Fuller Earth Filters ?
Motor driven transfer pump can be used for extended maintnence outage
What is the Relief Valve setpoint? Where is the relief valve located ?
-Setpoint is 75psig
-located downstream both Hydraulic Pumps & FCV-27
Where are the two pressure gauges located around the Fuller Earth Filters & what do they indicate ?
One inlet pressure gauge & outlet pressure gauge
Why do new Fuller Earth Filters need to be caked for two hours ?
Buildup is required to prevent migration of Fullers Earth particles into the Main Fluid when returned to normal service
What is the Flow Path for the Fuller Earths “Caked” process ?
Recirc mode through filters & recirculation tank, back to Hydraulic Fluid Filtering Pump
What does the Transfer Pump Filter do ? When should it be replaced?
-Filters hydraulic fluid throughto low particulate size
-Needs to be replaced if local inlet gauge reaches 15psig
What is the 4-position Filtering Selection Valve V204 used for ?
Used to direct flow to:
-Closed
-Discharge (drain)
-Recirculate to Hydraulic Fluid Reservoir
-Recirculate to Recirc. Tank
What is the Control Oil Recirculating Tank used for ?
Used during 2hr caking process of the new Fuller Earth Filters
What is the Hydraulic Fluid Filtering Pump used for ?
-Pumps control oil through fuller earth filtering when Main Hydraulic pumps are shutdown
-Used during power for bypass filtering fluid in reservoir
-Used when adding/draining reservoir
What kind of switch does the Hydraulic Fluid Filtering Pump ?
Two position start/stop switch that will start or stop pump
When does Control Room alarm for Control Oil Header Pressure ?
When Control Oil Header Pressure drops to 1300psig
What happens when Control Oil Header Pressure drops to 1100psi ?
If pressure drops to 1100 turbine will trip (2/3 logic)
What happens on a loss of Instrument air to Hydraulic Coolers ?
-TC Inlet Valve to coolers will fail open
-Oil will become overcooled
which, eventually turns on heaters & fans to maintain reservoir temp
What happens on a loss of instrument air to the stealth conditioner/dryer ?
This would allow moisture into control oil
What happens on loss of TC to the Hydraulic Coolers ?
-Need to place the heater-fan switch to start, to ONLY start fans
-If problem is with one cooler, then place other cooler in service
What must be previewed before handling Fyrquel EHC Fluid ?
-Chemical Use Permits(CUP)
-Material Safety Data Sheets
