Containment Purge (CP) Flashcards
What is Containment Purge designed to do ?
Designed to purge Containment atmosphere to Plant Vent Stack & introduces filtered & treated makeup hair
What’re the two subsystems for Containment Purge ?
-Refueling Purge
-Power-Access Purge
What does Refueling Purge provide during plant shutdown & refueling ?
Provides:
-Ventilation for personnel comfort
-High Flowrate purge
-Designed to maintain airborne radioactivity below level that permits sustained personnel occupancy
What does Power-Access Purge provide ?
-Ventilation air to allow access for limited periods during power
-Low flow rate purge PRIOR to & DURING power-access period
-Designed to maintain airborne radioactivity below limit that permits short-term personnel occupancy
-Used to lower pressure in containment by periodically venting portion of containment air to Plant Vent
What does Refueling Purge subsystem consist of ?
-Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU
-Two Containment Refueling Purge Normal Exhaust Fan
-Ductwork,Fan Discharge Dampers,Containment Isolation Valves
What does the Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU provide ?
Provides filtered & conditioned air through damper & Containment Isolation Valves
Where do Exhaust Fans draw air from ? Where is it discharged to ?
Draws air from containment atmosphere, passes through Containment Isolation Valves, & exhausts discharges to plant vent
What does Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU do ?
-Filters & conditions outside air to Containment during refueling for plant personnel
What does Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU consist of?
-Oil Impingement Air Filter
-Cooling Coil
-Heat Element
-Fans
What’s the flow path through the Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU ?
Two fans draw outside air, across Oil Impingement Filter, Cooling Coil, & Heating Element discharging to containment
What does Oil Impingement Air Filter do for the Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU ?
-Activated Dust Mode to removes fine particulates from outside air during dust storms
What cooling water is sent through the cooling coil of Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU ? How is discharge temperature maintained at 70F ?
-Normal Chilled water can be sent through or bypass cooling coil to maintain 70F
What position does the three way valve that send water through cooling coil fail to on loss of air ?
It fails full flow
When will the Heating Element for the Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU turn on ? What will turn off the Heating Element ?
-If discharge temp is to low it’ll automatically turn on heater
-Heating Element will turn off if it sense low air flow through Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU
When will Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU discharge damper open ?
Damper will open when associated AHU fan turns on
What will cause dampers to fail close ?
-Loss of Instrument Air
-Control power to solenoid operated valve controlling air supply
How are the Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU fans interlocked with Containment Isolation Valves ?
Containment Isolation Valves MUST be open for AHU fans to start
Where are the Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU Fans operated from ?
AHU is operated from control room
What happens when Control Room Hand switch takes the Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU to “Refueling Purge” position ?
As long as the associated Containment Isolation Valves are OPEN, the discharge dampers will open & both AHU fans will start
What powers the Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU Heating Element ?
Non class 480Load Center(NG)
What power the Containment Refueling Purge Normal AHU Fans ?
480VAC MCC (NH)
What do the Containment Refueling Purge Exhaust Fans do ?
-Exhaust air from containment atmosphere through Plant Vent
-Maintains negative pressure inside containment
What’re the capacity of the Containment Refueling Purge Exhaust Fans ? When’re they running ?
-They’re each 50% capacity
-They’re running during operation of Refueling Purge Subsystem
