Human factors in aviation focus on 3 aspects
**Physiological: **flights can affect the human body and also biological factors can make a person prone to error
Psychological: can effect personality and attitude and can cause human error and effect decision making
**Safety culture **- organizational culture can affect a person’s attitude and behaviour
Crew cannot fly if
- under the influence of alcohol, drugs
- unfit due to injury, sickness, fatigue, medication
- Too soon after diving or blood donation
- do not fullfill medical requirements
- in doubt of their overall ability to accomplish their flight duties
- Suffering from fatigue, sleep deprivation, had not adequate rest fue to flying sectors, time zones, etc..
- suffering from cold or congestion
Medical examiner should be consulted when:
- undergoing surgery , or invasive procedures
- on presecription or over-the shelf meds
- needing to use correction glasses
- been admitted to hospital for over 12 hours min
Notify the authorities if..
- pregnant
- been ill for min 21 days
- severe personal injuries that deem you unfit to fly
Pilot is skilled if
trains/practices regularly
manages himself well
possesses knowledge
keeps resources in reserve for the unexpected
