Q

What is attitude a mix of?

A

belief (knowledge gained from the world) and value

when you add value to a belief you form an attitude.

Example:
You have knowledge smoking is bad->believe smoking is bad->Causes bad health
Therefore, my attitude is that smoking is a bad thing

it represents a degree of someone’s likes and dislikes (predisposition to how we responds to things in the world)

Attitude is acquired from experience and learnings

They can apply to a persona’s behaviour or aspects of their behaviour

attitude can changes over time

Q

link between behaviour and attitude

A

Not a very strong link..

Attitude doesn’t necessarily alter behaviour
(you have negative attitude about smoking but continue to smoke)

prolonged or repetitive behaviour can alter attitude

behaviour stemming from attitude can be modified or controlled. (self control)

Q

What are 6 hazardous attitudes that lead to hazardous behavious:

A

anti-authoritanism
Aversion to rules & superiors=>disregarding rules
Likes to fly in their on way, misses their medical or their licenses are not in order

Implusiveness
Quick to act, no self control=>make irrational or quick decisions without thinking/jump to conclusions, doesn’t take time to assess the situation

Sense of invulnerability:
believes ‘it won’t happen to me’ =>underestimating riks

Excessive self esteem/machismo
Believing he’s better than others=>rule breaking, ignoring peers
Showing off their skills and abilities by taking uncessary risks

Resignation
believing he has no influence => easily giving up, submitting to fate and will not form a decision to act. Not in command anymore, ‘too late attitude’

**Complacency - **
excessive confidence and sense of contentment that leads to reduced risk awareness => hypovigilance and reduced self control

Q

which PAC personality should be in the cockpit

A

Adult, Parent, Child?

Adult: is an ‘ideal self’, assertive, confident with themselves

Parent: tends to display same behaviours as their parents on their kids/people - can be either nurturing or controlling

child: display certain behaviours they had in their childhood, rebellious, spontaneous, not self aware, emotional, vulnerable,..

in the cockpit, you need an adult-adult relationship

Note: no such thing as adoptive parent/child/adult
