Diagnosis
A
- elevated TSH level
- low to normal T3 and T4 levels

Treatment
A
- thyroid hormone supplement (levothyroxine (Synthroid) with dose adjusted every 4 weeks until TSH levels reaches the lower end of the normal range for pregnancy)
- radioactive iodine contraindicated in pregnancy

If Hypothyroidism if left untreated, there is an increased risk for what?

- preeclampsia
- placental abruption
- preterm birth
- low birth weight
- stillbirth
- fetal neurological development can be affected
