A

Specialised bundle of tissues that transmit electrical impulses to the heart which cause coordinated contraction.

Q

Explain the conduction system.

A
  1. SA node
In wall of atrium, sends impulse across both atria causing atrial systole.
  2. AV node
In the middle wall of heart (between atria and ventricle). Received impulse from SA node, delays for a moment to allow for atrial systole to finish and sends impulse down to bundle of his.
  3. Bundle of his
In wall of heart. Transmit impulse to the bottom of the right and left side of heart.
  4. Purkinje fibres
In walls of ventricles, causes the impulses to penetrate into the ventricle walls causing ventricular systole.

Q

What is starlings law ?

A

SV depends on VR (volume of blood returning to the heart).
If VR increases SV increases.
