Cardiovascular - Blood Distribution Flashcards
Aorta arch divides into what three divisions?
- Branchiocephalic trunk
- Left common carotid artery
- Left subclavian artery
What does the brachiocephalic trunk divide into?
- Right subclavian artery
- Right common carotid artery
Where do the common carotid arteries supply blood?
Supply blood to face, beck, and brain
Where is the vertebral artery? Where does it supply blood?
At the back of neck
Supplies brain through medulla oblongata
What is the carotid sinus?
Has baroreceptors that detect bp (where we check someone pulse on their neck)
Right subclavian artery contains what 4 arteries?
- Axillary artery
- brachial artery
- radial artery
- ulnar artery
Does the ulnar and radial arteries fuse?
Yes, they fuse in the hand
What does the thoracic aorta branch into?
Phrenic artery (diaphragm)
What are the branches for the abdominal aorta?
- Adrenal arteries = adrenals
- renal arteries = kidneys
- gonadal arteries = gonads
- lumbar arteries = vertebrae, spinal cord, and abdominal wall
What does the celiac trunk supply?
Liver, stomach, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas
What does the superior mesenteric artery supply?
Pancreas, duodenum, small and large intestines
What does the inferior mesenteric artery supply?
Terminal portions of colon and rectum
What does the aorta divide into to supply legs with blood? What do they supply
Right and left common iliac arteries
Supply pelvic organs and medial thigh
What does the iliac artery become as it descends the leg?
Femoral artery and then popliteal artery and tibial arteries
How many sets of peripheral veins?
One deep and one superficial (both for body temp)
