How does Fetal hemoglobin differ from adult hemoglobin?

A

Fetal hemoglobin is able to bind oxygen with greater affinity, giving developing fetus better access to oxygen from the mother’s blood stream

A

A

Takes longer to produce RBCs (increased risk of anemia)

Recover more slowly from bleeding episodes due to reduction in platelets

WBC respond to infections more slowly
