Blood Drugs to Know and MOA Flashcards
protamine
tx of bleeding
Abciximab
Platelet Inhibitors
dalteparin
low molecular weight heparins ( anticoagulant)
these are all competitive , reversible inhibitors of thrombin
thrombin inhibitors
this platelet aggregration inh drug is a chimeric monoclonal Ab; binds to GP receptor and blocks binding of fibrinogen; very expensive ; adverse effect of bleeding
abciximab
warfarin ( Coumadin)
other anticoagulants
this thrombin inhibitor drug binds to antithrombin III ; leads to rapid inactivation of thrombin and factor Xa; Low molecular weights/antithrombin III complex only inactivates factor Xa
thrombin inhibitors - heparin
this anti bleeding med inhibits plasminogen activation
aminocaproic acid
rivaroxaban
anticoagulant ( Factor Xa inhibitor)
dabigatran ( pradaxa)
anticoagulant ( direct thrombin inhibitor)
this platelet aggre. inh inhibits phosphodiesterase III ; prevents degradation of cAMP; adverse effects of HA and GI effects ; CI in pts with CHF
cilostazol
reteplase
thrombolytic agents
darbepoetin
tx of anemia
these drugs prevent the binding of fibrinogen to the GP receptors on platelet surfaces ; inhibit cyclooxygenase 1 or block GP or ADP receptors
platelet aggregation inhibitors
these drugs all act either directly or indirectly to convert plasminogen to plasmin; as clot dissolves It can attract free platelets and cause further thrombosis
thrombolytic drugs
this specific drug inhibits vitamin K epo-xide reductase ( enzyme that regenerates Vit K) ; takes hours to work and is reversible with Vit K admin
warfarin
Desirudin
anticoagulant ( direct thrombin inhibitor)
erythropoeitin
tx of anemia
these platelet aggreg. inh specific drugs also block the GP receptor ; IV only
Eptifibatide and Tirofiban
urokinase
thrombolytic agents
