What are sports England aims?
Sports Englands aims are to identify varies barriers to improve participation.
What are the Barriers of participation and possible solutions?
1 - Lack of time
2 - Negative social influences; poor PE experiences
3 - Lack of motivation
4 - Lack of skill
5 - Lack of resources/high costs of participation
6 - Family obligations
Solution to these Barriers?
1 - Lack of time - Add physical activity to a daily routine, e.g. walk or cycle to walk/school.
2 - Negative social influences; poor PE experiences - Invite family and friends to exercise with you; join a group where physical activity plays an important part, e.g. a youth club offering activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
3 - Lack of motivation - invite a friend to exercise with you on a regular basis, join an exercise class.
4 - Lack of skill - Select activities requiring few or no skills, e.g. walking/jogging.
5 - Lack of resources/high costs of participation - Select activities which require few facilities/limited equipment, e.g. walking, jogging, skipping.
6 - Family obligations/domestic responsibilities - Exercise with the children, e.g. go for a walk or swim.

What is a Disability?
When a mental, physical or sensory impairment affects performance.
What is Inclusiveness?
All people should have needs, abilities and aspirations recognised understood and met within a supportive environment.
What is Integration?
Able bodied and disabled people taking part in the same activity at the same time.
What is Segregation?
People with disabilities participation separately with other disabled performers.
What are the barriers to people with disabilities participating in more sport?
1 - Negative self-image or lack of confidence.
2 - Relatively low income levels: higher costs of participation such as membership fees, transport costs.
3 - Lack of access into and around facilities (Narrow doorways, no ramps, lifts out of order).
4 - Lack of organised programmes.
5 - Low level media coverage/models aspire to/lack of information.
6 - Lack of specialist clubs/coaches/competitions/lack of specialist equipment.
7 - Myths stereotypes about capabilities/safety concerns - activities been considered dangerous.
What are the solutions to people with Disabilities participating in more sport?
1 - Providing more opportunities for success; help talented athletes Rach their highest levels Paralympics.
2 - Increase investment in disabled sport - subsidising it and making it more affordable.
3 - Providing transport to facilities and improved access. Using specialist architects when designing buildings.
4 - Improve technology.
5 - Training of more specialist coaches.
6 - Educating people on myths/stereotypes.
7 - Desiring activités specifically for people with disabilities Wheelchair tennis or basketball ( research Boccia-goal-ball)
8 - Specialist organisations such as the English Federation for Disabled sport and sport England helping to develop disabled sport.
What is Race?
The physical characteristics of an individual.
What is Racism?
A set of beliefs or ideas based on the assumption that races have distinct hereditary characteristics that give some races an intrinsic superiority over others, it may lead to physical or verbal abuse.
What is Channelling?
Ethnic minorities may be pushed into certain sports and even certain positions within a team, based on the assumption about them.
What is Stacking?
The disportioncate concentration of ethnic minorities in certain positions in a sport team, which tends to be based on the stereotype that they are more valuable for their physicality than their decision making and communication.
What is Ethnic Groups?
People who have racial, religious, or linguistic traits in common.
