Q

What are the key elements of speciation?

A

2 groups of the same species is separated
Different natural selections takes places in each group
Eventually they become so different that they are no longer able to interbreed successfully

Q

What is environmental isolation?

A

Where climate changes in one area where an organism lives but not in others
Such as climate getting warmer in one area
Breeding time will change and eventually new species will ermerge

Q

Why does isolation lead to the evolution of new species?

A

The population of the same species has some genetic variation among them
Isolation separates population barrier
Different conditions for each population - natural selection occurs - different alleles advantageous in different areas
Favorable genes are passed on and the 2 populations can no longer interbreed and new species evolve
