Q

Why both of your parents must be carriers of the alleles cystic fibrosis before you can inherit the disease?

A

Cystic fibrosis caused by recessive allele,
which must be inherited from both parents for child to have disease. If both parents had the disease themselves they would almost certainly be infertile.
so parents must be carriers (heterozygotes).
