A
Fight or flight response. Heightens stress which can be beneficial in the short term, but long term can be devastating

What is the parasympathetic division of the nervous system?
A
associated with “rest and digest” response. It dominates in relaxed (non-stressed) situations to promote a normal functioning of several organs (such as digestion)
