A/15 Flashcards
What is hyaline?
Non specific biochemical material that stains homogenous, glassy pink in HE
What are 4 types of hyaline accumulation?
- hyaline AS
- hyaline membrane disease
- hyalinic glomeruli
- mallory bodies hyaline
What is the hyaline made of in hyaline AS?
- leakage of plasma components across epithelium
- increasing ECM production by ECM
In what pathologies do we find hyaline AS?
diabetes mellitus and hypertension
Which organ is most affected by hyaline AS?
kidney - benign nephrosclerosis
What is the hyaline made of in hyalinic membrane disease?
plasma leakage to the alveolar spaces
What does HMD cause?
it causes IRDS, ARDS
Pathogenesis of HMD?
deficiency of surfactant -> atelactasis -> lung injury -> protein exudate : hyaline membrane formation
When do we see hyalinic glomeruli?
at end stage of kidney diseases, most frequently in glomerulonephritis
What is the hyaline material in hyalinic glomeruli?
- plasma proteins
- mesangial matrix
- collagene
When do we have mallory bodies hyaline?
in alcoholic liver disease
What are mallory bodies?
aggregated, degenerated cytoskeletal proteins
