what is the procedure of zimbardo’s prison experiement

A
  • zimbardo turned the basement of a univeristy in a prison simulator.
  • once the particiopants arrived at the prison they were strip serched and were put into a uniform woith a number. gurads were given a different uniform and carried a whistle, club and sunglasses.

24 male college students who were paid $15a day to take part. participnats were randomly assigned to role ( 10 prisoners, 11 guards )

A
  • behavior of gurards and prisoners chnaged dramtically
  • guards woke up prisoners in the midde of the night and made them do push ups.
  • prisoners stated a rebellion, which was stopped by guards using fire extunguishers
  • with held food
  • over following days prisoners became more subbikmissive and guard became more agressive
  • after 36 hours ne prisoners showed sugns of emotional disturnace
  • soon after interacting wih the uards his behabiour became escelated
  • he was released
