the researcher must obtain written consent from each participant in a study, stating they consent and have been given all neccesary information.
define volentary participation
volentary participation ensure that a participant willingly takes part in a study.
define withdrawal rights
withdrawal roghts is the rights of the participants to withdrawal from the study at any point in time withouut pressure to continue.
describe confidentiallity
Confidetiality refers to the participants right to privacy reagarding access, storage and disposal of the information collected about them.
describe privacy
privacy means that the researcher must only collect information that is relevat to the study.
describe deception
deception is used in some cases where giving the participants information about the study beforehand could effet their behaviour and results in the study.
describe debreifing
debriefing means to inform the participants about the studys purpose after it has ended.
define ethics
ethics refers to the correct rules of cinduct neccesary when carrying out research.
what is an ethics commitee
these comitees run thorough reveiws of a study before they are implemented to ensure it meets all ethical guidelines.
what are the roles of an ethics commitee
- deciding if a research proposal meets all ethical guidelines
- deciding whether the researcher is experienced or qualified
- monitors and approves the ethical conduct throughout the study
- handles complaints
- accepts resonsiblilty for the researcher and the ethical guidelines are being followed.
