bystanders failing to help someone when they can see their in need. it proposes that the more people present the less liekly you are to interact.

a reduction in perosnal res[onsibility when in a group.

failure to intervene in an emergency in the presence of others due o thye fear of being judged.

when bystanders are unsure of how to act in a new or unfamilier stting, they will look for other bystanders for cues on how to act.
describe cost benefit analysis
the psychological process of weighing up the benefits if performing a behvaiour with the potential cost of perfroming a bhevaiour.
what are the 3 stages of cost benefit analysis
- psychological arousal - the greater the arousal teh more liekyl the bystander is to step in
- labelling the psychological arousal - labelling it with an emotion ( personal distress or empathetic concern)
- evaluatiing the consquences of helping - do the costs outwiegh the benefits.
