Vascular Plant tissues + Pholem and Xylem Flashcards
1
Q
Name the 4 tissues of Vascular plants
A
Meristematic Tissues – cells that undergo mitosis and are
responsible for plant growth
Dermal Tissue – outer cell layers of plants (ex. Epidermis)
Ground Tissue – composed of all internal cells of the
plant except for the vascular plants
Vascular Tissue – involved in the transport of substances
in the plant
2
Q
What is Xylem and Phloem and there roles?
A
Xylem: compose of thick-walled cells that conduct water and nutrients from the roots to
the rest of the plants
Phloem: composed of thin-walled cells that transport sugars and other plant products
from one part of the plant to another
