Q

What is Transpiration pull not transpiration but transpiration pull

A

When water evaporates it creates a low pressure creating a pulling force through the water in the xylem from the roots pulling water upwards against gravity.

Q

Why do some plants have symbiotic relationships with fungus

A

Some ions move slowly though the soil because they tend to bind to soil particles. To overcome this problem, certain plants have developed symbiotic relationshipswith fungus

-fungus grow on surface of the roots and absorb mineral ions (i.e.
phosphate) from soil particles and supply them to the roots. In return,
many plants roots then supply sugars and other nutrients to the fungus.

Q

Summary of replacing water loss from transpiration

A

so we know that the water loosed from transpiration is replaced by water from xylem

we also know that water in xylem climbs stem by transpiration pull due to adhesion and cohesion

water also moves from soil into the roots by osmosis due to active transport of minerals

and once in root water travels to xylem vessels by passing through neighboring cell walls called apoplast pathways or through cytoplasm ( symplast pathway)
