it does increase conformity as in original study there were 6 confederates and 36.85 people conformed however in the variation study there were 1 confederate and 1 real participant decreased by 4 % and when there was 3 confederates and 1 real participant the uniformity was reduce by 31.8%.

that people conform due to NSI ( the need to be accepted). Its also said that conformity level wile having 3 confederates is as high as having 6 confederates so no need for many confederates as people can be easily influnced by others due to their sensitivity.

yes it does because in Ash’s original study 36.8% people conformed and in the variation when the task difficulty increased the conformity level increased as well.
why did conformity increase due to task difficulty.
Its due to ISI ( as people have a need to be right) as when participants were in a new ambiguous situation they started to rely on other pope as they didn’t enacted to be wrong so therefore they copy each other.
does unanimity increase conformity.
yes, as in Ash’s original study confederates gave unanimous answers 12 out 18 critical trial. 36.8% people conformed. however, in the variation when 1 confederate always gave right answer the conformity decreased by 5.5% and when one gave sometime wrong and sometime right the conformity decreased by 25% and when one gave a different wrong answer it decreased by 9%.
why did conformity increased due to unanimity.
Because unanimity plays a big role for conformity if the unanimity is disturbed or if participants are given a support of a confederate the conformity level drops significantly.
