Q

In Spanish we can use “más que” to express

A

“only / just”. For this it is necessary to have a verb in the negative.

Más que + a noun

Sometimes “nada” is also placed in front of más que
Más que + infinitive
Using más que with this purpose (instead of just using “solo”) makes it more idiomatic and emphatic.

Solo tienes que confiar en mí. (less emphatic)

No tienes más que confiar en mí. (more emphatic)

(You only have to trust me.)

It is often used with “no tener más que”, “no hay más que” or “no poder más que”.
