Urinary incontinence: key symptoms
Involuntary leakage of urine
Urinary incontinence: 4 classes
Stress: upon effort/exertion e.g coughing
Urgency: sudden urgency from overactive bladder syndrome or neurological conditions
Mixed: both stress and urgency
Overflow: urinary retention causes bladder to overfill e.g from antimuscaurinics

All patients should be referred for further assessment of symptoms
In particular over 45s with blood as risk of bladder cancer

Based on size, absorption capacity, mobility issues (use belted)
Absorbs urine to avoid leaks, keeps skin dry (promotes skin health), removes odour

Skincare for irritated skin
Specially adapted clothing and swimwear

Reduce caffeine
6-8 glasses of water (no more no less)
Weight loss if pt is obese
Stop smoking
Avoid alcohol
Pelvic floor exercises (GP)
Take care of skin and report any broken skin (risk of infection)
