Extremely common condition that occurs due to their teeth coming through the gums causing discomfort

Advise lifestyle ONLY for first visit
If lifestyle has been tried, then recommend Anbesol teething gel, local anaesthetic, apply with clean fingers to affected area every 3 hours as required, max 6 times per day. No longer than 7 days use.
Paracetamol for fever

Gently rub the affected area to soothe with clean fingers
As soon as the teeth erupt, brush twice daily
Regular dental visits
Give child a cool object such as a wet flannel to bite
Cold fruit and veg to chew on if child is eating (not frozen)
Give teething ring
Comfort child
Wipe excess saliva to avoid rash
