The monitoring teamassists the UNSC sanctions committeeand its report, circulated among committee members, informs theformulation of UN strategy in Afghanistan.

India is currently the chair of the sanctions committee, which comprises all the 15 UNSC members.

This report is thefirst since the Taliban returned to powerin August 2021.

This is thefirst of its reports not informedby official Afghan briefings.
