History of political relations

A

On 17 September 1950, India officially recognised the State of Israel. Before this , recognition was put on hold due to muslim sentiments and maintaining ties with Arab countries.

Israel supported India during theIndo-Pakistani War of 1971.

India formally established relations with Israel when it opened an embassy in Tel Aviv in January 1992.

MODI’S VISIT -
In July 2017,Narendra Modibecame the first everIndian Prime Ministerto visitIsrael.
It was noted that Prime Minister Modi did not visit Palestine during the trip, breaking from convention.Earlier , any Indian representative visited both Palestine and Israel.

As a personal gesture,Israelnamed a new type ofChrysanthemumflower, afterNarendra Modi.
During the visit,IndiaandIsraelsigned 7 MoUs.

INDIA celebrated 30 years of INDIA 🇮🇳 ISRAEL 🇮🇱 relations.

Trade and military relations

A

TRADE RELATIONS -
India is the largest buyer ofIsraeli armed military equipmentand Israel is the second-largest supplier of military equipment to India afterRussia

As of 2019, India is the tenth-largest trade partner of Israel 🇮🇱.

MILITARY RELATIONS-
In 1999, Israel supported India inKargil warby providing arms and ammunitions.

In 2017, India participated in theBlue Flag exercisein Uvda Air Force Base in southern Israel for the first time.

India, Israel, the UAE, and the United States held their first joint meeting virtually in October 2021.

Abraham Accords

A

TheAbraham Accordsare a joint statement between theState of Israel, theUnited Arab Emirates, and theUnited States, reached on August 13, 2020.

Original accords were signed in September 2020.

It is essentially a peace deal between Israel 🇮🇱 , United Arab Emirates 🇦🇪 and Saudi 🇸🇦 Arabia brokered by USA 🇺🇸.
