CHINA’S SPACE HISTORY
July 19, 1964: China took its first official step into space, launching and recovering an experimental biological rocket carrying white mice.
April 24, 1970: The first Chinese artificial satellite, Dong Fang Hong 1, was launched. That made China the fifth country to send satellites into orbit following the Soviet Union, the United States, France and Japan.
Nov. 20, 1999: China successfully launched its first unmanned spacecraft, the Shenzhou 1 ( meaning DIVINE LAND)
Oct. 15, 2003: China became the third country after the United States and Russia to send a man into space with its own rocket.
Nov. 5, 2007: China’s first lunar orbiter, Chang’e 1 ( name of CHINESE MOON GODDESS), entered the moon’s orbit 12 days after take off.
Sept. 29, 2011: The Tiangong-1, or “Heavenly Palace 1”, China’s first space lab.

china’s space expedition was managed by Ministry of Aerospace Industry until it was dissolved to form China National Space Administration (CNSA) in 1993.
It does NOT execute space programs
space programs of china are initiated by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation(CASC) which was founded in 1999.
