A

1.India was one of the first countries to recognize Belarus as an independent country in 1991 after the break-up of the Soviet Union.

2.Belarus was one of the countries whose support helped in consolidating India’s candidature for the non-permanent seat at the UNSC in July 2020.

3.In the economic sector, the annual bilateral trade turnover in 2019 stands at USD 569.6 million.

FACTS ABOUT BELARUS

A

Belarus ,officially the Republic of Belarus,[b] is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe.
Its capital and largest city is MINSK.

The parliament of the republic proclaimed the sovereignty of Belarus on 27 July 1990, and during the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Belarus declared independence on 25 August 1991.

Following the adoption of a new constitution in 1994, Alexander Lukashenko was elected Belarus’s first president in the country’s first and only free election post-independence, serving as president ever since.
