u3 aos2 dp8 Flashcards
1
Q
storage of memories
A
distributed across brain
simple memories may be formed, encoded and stored in one place
complex memories have clusters stored throughout brain and liked through neural pathways
2
Q
cerebral cortex
A
- permanent storage of explicit (semantic and episodic) memories
- most likely frontal lobe
- well learned procedural memories (long term)
- complex classically conditioned responses (not reflexes)
3
Q
hippocampus
A
- consolidates STm explicit into LTm, then stored in cerebral cortex
- not involved in formation or storge if implicit
4
Q
amygdala
A
- encodes explicit emotional short term memories
- doesnt perminately store them
- level of emotional arousal at time of encoding influence strength of memory
- more emotion, more adrenaline
- fear response (classically conditioned fear response)
- nit involved in semantic or procedural memories
5
Q
cerebellum
A
- encoding and temporary storage of procedural memories
- stored long term in cerebral cortex once learned well
- forms and stored reflexes long term
- not involved in explicit memories``
