Pharmacology and presentation of Tranexamic Acid?
A
1g:10ml
Antifibrinolytic medicine. It blocks the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin, reducing fibrinolysis (breakdown of blood clots) and bleeding.

Indicators of Tranexamic Acid?
A
- Recent (<3 hours) traumatic injuries and COAST score 3 or >
- Post-Partum Haemorrhage.

Contraindications of Tranexamic Acid?
A
- Known allergy
- Do not administer in same line as blood products

Cautions of Tranexamic Acid?
A
- NIL

Side Effects of Tranexamic Acid?
- SHN
A
- Headache
- Nausea and/or vomiting
- Seizures.

Dosing Regimes of Tranexamic Acid?
A
Traumatic Injuries with a COAST Score ≥ 3; or PPH
- Via Clinical Consult Only – ICP-DAT / CMO

Onset and duration of Tranexamic Acid?
A
- Onset = 1–3 minutes
- Duration = 7–8 hours
