Pharmacology and presentation of Ipratropium Bromide?
A
500 microg/1ml Polyamp
21mcg per MDI spray
Anticholinergic bronchodilator, inhibits cholinergic broncho-motor tone, i.e. blocks vagal reflex thus causing bronchodilation

Indicators of Ipratropium Bromide?
A
- Severe resp distress associated with bronchospasm

Contraindications of Ipratropium Bromide?
A
- Known allergy
- Hypersensitivity to Atropine or its derivatives
- Age <1 year.

Cautions of Ipratropium Bromide?
A
- Glaucoma
- Avoid contact with eye wherever possible.

Side Effects of Ipratropium Bromide?
- STD HND
A
- Headache
- Nausea
- Dilated pupils
- Dry mouth
- Tachycardia and palpitations (rare)
- Skin rash.

Dosing Regimes of Ipratropium Bromide?
A
Asthma, COPD & Bronchospasm
- Adults = single dose 500mcg Nebulised
- Paeds = single dose 250mcg Nebulised

Onset and duration of Ipratropium Bromide?
A
- Onset = 1–3 minutes
- Duration = 4–6 hours
