Pharmacology and presentation of Antacid?
A
Aluminium Hydroxide 200mg; Magnesium Hydroxide 200mg; Simethicone 20mg (Mylanta Chewable)
Helps reduce stomach acidity; act as anti-flatulent and reduce buildup of gas in the stomach.

Indicators of Antacid?
A
- Gastric upset, bloating and heartburn.

Contraindications of Antacid?
- 12, 12, 2, SAV
A
- Known allergy
- Age 12 or under
- Patient who is unable to understand instructions for self administration
- Vomiting
- Patient who has antacid tablets continuously for past 14 days
- The following medication types in the previous two hours: for heart disease; diabetes; gout; high blood pressure; epilepsy; arthritis; bacterial or fungal infection

Cautions of Antacid?
A
- Cardiac pain may mimic indigestion. If signs or symptoms appear similar to cardiac chest pain
- Check dose before administering due to varying presentations

Side Effects of Antacid?
A
- Constipation or diarrhoea.

Dosing Regimes of Antacid?
A
- Adults 2–4 tablets chewed and swallowed. Ideally between meals.
- Maximum 3–4 times daily as required.

A
- Permitted in sport
