A
production of an mRNA copy of a gene from DNA this occurs in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells and occurs in the cytoplasm of prokaryotic cells

explain the process of transcription
A
DNA helicase causes part of the DNA molecule to unwind due to hydrogen bonds between the 2 strands being broken
this exposes some of the bases
RNA polymerase joins together RNA nucleotides forming a sugar phosphate backbone of mRNA molecule
when RNA polymerase reaches a stop signal (specific sequence of bases that signal the end of the gene)
RNA polymerase detaches and transcription stops
