tissue fluid Flashcards
1
Q
define tissue fluid
A
water liquid that contains glucose, amino acids, fatty acids, ions
2
Q
explain the formation of tissue fluid
(6 marks)
A
- arterial end of the capillary has high hydrostatic pressure caused by the heart pumping
- water and other molecules (CO2, glucose) move from blood to tissues ULTRAFILTRATION
- the water potential of the blood is lowered as proteins and cells remain when water leaves
- water potential of tissue fluid is higher than water potential of blood at venus end of capillary so water moves into blood by osmosis
- excess water in tissue fluid moves into lymph and returned to blood
3
Q
define ultrafiltration
A
only allows small molecules to be forced out of capillaries
leaving all cells and proteins in the blood
