what can elisa test be used to test for
HIV
why is there no colour change if HIV is not present
no HIV antigen
means 1st antibody will not bind
means 2nd and antibody that is linked to enyzme won’t bind
so there is no coloured product
if a mum is HIV positive
why may a breastfed baby test positive for HIV at 8 weeks but HIV negative at 18 months
baby may receive HIV antibodies from mum’s breastmilk
passive immunity as antibodies are destroyed hence negative results at 18 months
