Eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells Flashcards
1
Q
List the differences between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells
A
Eukaryotic cells
- membrane bound organelles
- have chloroplasts
- have 80s ribosomes
- cellulose makes up the cell wall in plants
- chitin makes up the cell wall in fungi
- nucleus (linear DNA in chromosomes)
- mitochondria
Prokaryotic cells
- bacterial chlorophyll
- 70s ribosomes
- cell wall is made out of murein and a mucilaginous layer
- no nucleus
- no mitochondria (the cell is too small)
- no membrane bound organelles
2
Q
When DNA is wrapped around histones what does it form
A
DNA wrapped around histones = CHROMATIN
3
Q
what are chromosomes made out of
A
Chromatin
