Tracts Flashcards
Sensory Tracts - posterior compartment
Fasiculus cuneatus - sensory info for upper extremities
Fasiculus gracilis - sensory info for lower extremities
both proprioception, deep and discriminative touch, and visceral pain
cross at midbrain level
Anterior and lateral spinothalamic system
sensory tract important for pain, temp and crude touch
crosses 2-3 spinal levels above point of entry
lateral reticulospinal tract
posture, balance, trunk, and proximal muscle control
Ventral + dorsal spinocerebellar tracts
proprioception for the trunk and lower extremities
Lateral corticospinal tract
largest motor tract
key control for voluntary motion especially in limbs
innervates ipsilateral muscles and crosses at the level of midbrain
