1.10 Flashcards
Describe the PNF approach
The procedures are used to increase patient mobility or stability, guide the patient’s movement, facilitate more efficient and coordinated movement through normal timing, and increase range of motion (ROM), strength, and endurance
What does the term irradiation refer to within PNF?
responsive to resistance spreads to another adjacent and agonist muscle
resistance
increased effort from the muscle group being targeted
stretch
muscle spindles are facilitated causing a contraction of the agonist muscle
successive induction
resistance in one direction will strengthen the opposite directions
reciprocal inhibition
agonist muscle contracts and antagonist muscle relaxes
