TOPIC 4- Investigating diversity Flashcards
How is gnetic diversity compared?
-Thefrequencyu of observablecharacteristcs
-The base sequence of DNA
-The base sequence of mRNA
-The amino acid sequence of the proteins encoded by DNA and mRNA
Defione variation
the differences that existbetween individuals
Whatare some possible causes of variation?
-Genetic factors
-Differences in the enviroment (climate, lifestyle, food)
Why do we use population samples?
-It would be too time consuming tolook at the whole population
-You would not be able to catch all of the population
Why is random sampling used?
-So the sample is representitive so patterns can beaccuratley observed
-So the sample is not biased
-Make sureany variation observed is not due to chance
What is the formulae to work out the mean?
Mean=
total number of all the values in your data
