The digestive system

Neck
Crown and Root meet
Dentin
Core of the tooth, extends from the apex of the root in the neck and the crown
Enamel
Covers the dentin about the gum line
97% calcified matter, hardest substance contained in the body
No nerve supply
Cementum
Covers the tooth below the gum line
Periodontal membrane
Suspensory ligament to attach the cementum to the bony tooth socket/ THE JAW
Secure the gingiva to the underlying bone
Alveolar Bone
Spongy bone where the teeth rest

Gums
can be infected and lead to tooth lose
Apical foramen
Opening at the apex of the tooth
Permits the entry of arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels and sensory nerves
Root cancal
Narrow channel that is connected to the larger space within the dentin
Pulp Cavity
The bulb-like structure, is the larger space within the dentin
Root Canal Procedure
Endodontic Therapy
Infection penetrates the pulp cavity and there is risk of tooth loss.
All vessels and sensory nerves are removed and filled in.
