Liver (inferior Surface) Flashcards
Liver
Largest gland (Production of bile)
Metabolism of nutrients
Made of simple cubodial epithelium
Gall Bladder
Anterior border of the Liver
stores bile of the liver until food is in the stomach
RIght lobe of the liver
Largest Lobe right of the gall bladder and Inferior Vena Cava
Left Lobe
Left of the falciform ligament
Caudate Lobe
Btw the left lob and the inferior vena cava
Quadrate Lobe
Btw the falciform ligament and the gall bladder
Hepatic Artery
Arises from the celiac trunk of the abdominal aorta provide the liver tissue with oxygen
Bile Salts
Formed from cholesterol
Important for the emulsifying and absorption of fatty elements from the intestines
Hepatic Ducts
Liver releases additional bile that enters here
Cystic Duct
Gall bladder contracts and bile is sent through this
Cystic = Bladder
Common Bile Duct
Hepatic and cystic ducts join here
Passes behind the head of the pancreas to the Duodenum alongside the main pancreatic duct
Hepatic portal vein
Water, drugs and nutrients from the stomach and intestines are transported by this vein to the liver
Portal
Large vein connects two sets of capillaries with within the walls of the stomach, intestines and spleen and those in the liver.
