A
10-30, peak between 13-15 years

Symptoms of testicular torsion
A
Severe and sudden onset pain, referred pain to lower abdomen, nausea and vomiting

Examination in testicular torsion
A
Swollen, tender testis retracted upwards. Cremasteric reflex lost, elevation of the testis does not ease the pain (Prehn’s sign)

Management of testicular torsion
A
Urgent surgical exploration - if torted testis is identified then both testis should be fixed as the condition of bell clapper testis is often bilateral
